Hello everyone,
How are you all? It's been a while since my last post. What's new! I have been busier than ever. I had less time to work on this project than I hoped for. Between orders for clients and preparing for Christmas I am also working on two room boxes; so you can imagine how my time is being consumed.
Little Leah decided to go for a classical but modern dolls house I would say. I can understand that for a six year old she would like to have a dolls house which is similar to her own house. Knowing her own mother's tastes and living in a classical decorated house, there was no way we were going for an ultra modern house.
So far we have started decorating the rooms of the basement. These will be turned into a living room and into a kitchen. Choosing the wall paper was easy. Thank goodness the girl has my tastes and didn't go for flashy bright colors.
We started off by wallpapering the walls and the floor. For the kitchen we choose a light blue paper with yellow poppies and for the living room we choose another floral pattern with a pastel green background. For the flooring; as one room leads to the other without a proper door, all rooms will be decorated with parquet wood paper

Next came the lights for both rooms. A simple lamp shade for both rooms I would say, but suited them nicely. As lights are thought before hand, I wanted to surprise Leah by adding an extra outdoor lantern next to the outside door of the basement. I am sure she will like it once it is lit.
With the rooms pretty much done except for the skirting and cornice, I tried a few pieces of furniture that I had stashed for years and was sure that I wouldn't use for any of my projects, though I am sure Leah will love them.
There will be more details and accessories added to the rooms but this will only be done under the supervision of my little girl. It's her dolls house and I want her to enjoy it.
Apart from the other rooms, I have a very important job to do. A month ago I had ordered a custom made table for the dolls house. My carpenter did an amazing job. Now I have to paint it to match the dolls house and add the knobs for the drawer. Last Sunday Leah and I purchased more paint for the table and also chose the knobs together.
This is all for today. I hope you like what we have been doing on this project. It's great to share a dolls house and my hobby with my little girl. Let's hope that the same passion will grow within her.
Keep tuned for the next update.
Take Care and See You Soon.
Hugs,
Rebecca xxx
