'The Making of the Kitchen' Part 3 on Life & Style

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and that you had a great weekend. I have been quite busy and a bit under the weather for the past few days. Before I start I wanted to welcome the new followers of the blog. Welcome!

Last Tuesday, I got to share more of the progress on the new project 'The Miniaturist'. I worked on the tiny room which is now the kitchen.

The first thing I added to the room was the small kitchen stove, which was built and hand painted by my father.

With the stove ready and in place I could work on the surrounding. The surrounding was made with wood and with the same tiled card board used for the walls. 

When that was completed, I added shelves and the ceramic sink. There was enough space to have a work surface  in the corner. I opted to make a side table with a marble effect surface.

Finally I added a few kitchen accessories. It is far from ready but it's looking good.

Tuesday I took the project to the Life & Style TV Show.  As you can see the kitchen is quite bare at the introduction of the show.

During the TV Show I get to work on the project and add the details and accessories. I usually give the audience a brief description of what I use and even  share the knowledge of the research that I would have done to achieve my work and design.

From here I would like to thank the producer of the TV Show 'Life & Style' Joanne Tanti for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my work. Thank you so much Joanne!

'The Miniaturist Room' Part 2 on Life & Style

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and looking forward to the weekend. 

Just before leaving for The Netherlands, I shared the continuation of my new project 'The Miniaturist' on the Life & Style TV show on Net TV. 

After wallpapering the walls I got to add the extra wall behind the stove and tiles for the flooring. It still needs to be weathered and dirtied. Using a drinking straw I also added a chimney to give more detail. 

I also added the detail to the room with the skirting, cornice and even a wall trimming.

Having the room ready with the ceiling and lighting in place it was time to add a few furniture pieces and accessories. I added a table  and one of my micro dolls houses that I have made a few years ago. Finally Rosebud Cottage is part of a project. Being the Miniaturist Room we will be having quite a few dolls houses.

I have also decorated and hand painted another dolls house for the room. I am sure we will find the right spot for it. I have down sized some wall paper and flooring to fit the tiny dolls house and it looks quite different.

Visiting The Dollshouse Netherland Show March 2019

Hello Everyone,

Here I am again! 

Like a few of you already know, last weekend I was in The Netherlands to visit the Dollshouse Netherland Show that took place at Eusebiuskerk in Arnhem.

On my arrival on Saturday, I had the pleasure to visit the City of Delft which is famous for the manufacturing of the hand painted white and blue pottery and the resting place of the Dutch Master Painter Johannes Vermeer. 

A wonderful place to visit and I also got some Delft miniatures from there too.

Sunday was the big day were I got to go to Arnhem for the Dollshouse Netherland Show. I was so excited to be there. It was great to meet wonderful artists and seeing their amazing work. Eusebiuskerk is beautiful on its own. The building and art work is just magnificent to see. 

I didn't realize that being in Arnhem I was only a few meters away from the famous John Frost bridge which is much known for the War Novel 'A Bridge too Far' by Cornelius Ryan based on a true story that happened in WWII during Operation Market Garden; a failed Allied attempt to break through the German lines.

Also how can I ever forget to mention the little tot that travels with me wherever I go. Posy was with me all the time even at the dolls house show. She might be telling her own stories in her own blog. 

Here are the goodies that I got from the Dollshouse Netherland Show.

Surprise! I found the original Charles Dickens Doll made by the Dolls House Emporium which has been discontinued for years. Who would have told me that I would find him there. Got the doll from 'Minidoor-Workshops & Poppenhuisminiaturen'

I got the sweet baby doll all dressed up, pair of boots and a tiny lady's bag from the sweet lady Marijke Van Vuuren who knits the tiniest of miniature accessories. 

A few kits from Janny's Artofmini. It was great meeting her.

And a few more kits from Melissa's Laserville. It was nice meeting you once again Melissa. 

Finally the tiny little sculptured doll which has poseable legs and arms from the Spanish artist Victoria Heredia Guerbo.

It was one of the most wonderful weekends that I ever experienced in my life. I will never forget it. It was a dream come true. Maybe one day, in a few years, I will get to visit again, but for now,  back to reality. I will share my dollshouse projects and miniature works from here.
