The Miniature Nativity Scene

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones and that you enjoyed it. I spent my Christmas with my family like any other year. The kids were super excited and woke up early to see what Santa got them. Even though this year Covid-19 has impacted most of our lives, I have to say Santa has pulled it through like always. I am quite impressed with the man. ;-) I just love seeing the kids faces on Christmas morning.

Today I wanted to share with you a small project that I had worked on in the beginning of the month. Even though it isn't dolls house related it is still a miniature and there was quite some work to it. I have turned a flower pot into a miniature Nativity scene.

I had this small terracotta flower pot which I had bought from the Lidl super market containing a small succulent. The succulent grew and so it needed to be re-potted into a much bigger pot leaving this one empty.

An ideal came to mind and instead of keeping the vase on its back I turned it upright. I added a base on the inside for the flooring, painted the walls on the inside to make it look like a cave. Added a rice bulb  for lighting and I found my old nativity figure set to put inside it.

I have to say I am very happy how it turned out even if it is quite small.

I hope you like how it tuned out.

This is all for today. Make sure to keep tuned for the next updates.

Take Care and See You Soon.

12th Day of Christmas - Visiting The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn

 Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Today is Christmas Eve and Miss Holly was quite busy in these past few days. Today is also her last visit to Regent Street and she left it for The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn.

When she first arrived to Regent Street, The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn was her first home.  The Barrett's had welcomed Miss Holly thanks to the promised engagement Miss Leah and Sir Edwin have. They welcomed her as part of the family and Miss Holly lived with them for months until she moved to her own home.

The anticipation for Christmas could be felt today in Regent Street. The street was busy with people greeting each other with smiles and best wishes.  Miss Holly had made Eggnog for the pub so it could be served for Christmas.

The pub was quite full of the regulars when she arrived and she was welcomed immediately by Sir Edwin himself. He was so happy to see her. Miss Leah had already informed him that Miss Holly would visit at some point but he never thought that she would have come on Christmas Eve.

Miss Holly presented her home made Eggnog  and Sir Edwin was more than pleased to have it served to his clients on the day.

Miss Holly took her eggnog to Mr. Larkin to open the bottles. and Susanna served every table with the delicious Christmas drink.

The gentlemen loved the eggnog and praised Miss Holly for it.

Everyone wished her a Merry Christmas and were so thankful to her for giving so much of her time and goodness.

Just before leaving the pub she couldn't resist not visiting Sir Edwin's mother, Madam Barrett.  The elderly lady couldn't be more happy to see her and Miss Holly spent most of her afternoon with her. It felt like home and she couldn't be more happy to spend Christmas Eve with her.

And our Twelve Days of Christmas are complete. Miss Holly has done a fine job in spreading the Christmas cheer around Regent Street.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Very Merry Christmas.

Take Care and See You Soon.

11th Day of Christmas - Visiting The Miniaturist

  Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Just two days before Christmas, Miss Holly wanted to spend her day decorating her home for Christmas. It was one of her favorite things to do before Christmas. Her little Christmas tree stood proudly near the window. A brand new nativity set that she placed on the hall table. Her stocking hanging from the fireplace's mantel. Little ornaments and garlands in every part of the house.

While putting away all the boxes back to storage she found another box with her old small nativity set that she had used for the past few years. It was a pity that she wasn't going to bring it out this year and felt very sorry for it. It was a such a small set compared to the new one that she had just bought for herself. As she looked at it an idea came to mind.  She was told that an artist lived right above The Dickens Book Shop who loved building and making miniatures.

She put on her hat, picked up the Nativity Set and set off to the Miniaturist to give her the little set.
Lady Adelaide was so surprised to see that Miss Holly has visited her too. In the past days she had heard about her visits all around Regent Street and she was honored that she thought of her.

Miss Holly was so happy to visit her; not only to give her the Nativity Set but also to see the wonderful dolls houses and miniatures Lady Adelaide did. Miss Holly was so impressed and she was happier knowing that her Nativity couldn't find a better home than this. It was perfect.

Lady Adelaide couldn't be more thrilled with the miniature Nativity and was very thankful to Miss Holly. She found the right place for it in the middle of the room among her other miniatures.

Lady Adelaide showed Miss Holly around the room and had a lovely chat about miniatures and the hobby.

Miss Holly was looking forward to visit again and asked Lady Adelaide if she would do a Christmas house for her in miniature. Lady Adelaide only smiled and told her that she had a whole year to prepare for it but promised Holly that she would have it before next year's Christmas.

Miss Holly was already getting excited about it even if she had to wait another year.

This is all for today. Tomorrow will be our last day for the 12 Days of Christmas. Let's see were our Miss Holly will visit.

Take Care and See You Soon.

10th Day of Christmas - Visiting Matquel's Antiques & China Shop

 Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Miss Holly woke up very early, she was set to visit Matquel's Antiques & China Shop as she promised Quelina the day before.

Matquel's Antiques & China Shop was the first establishment to open in Regent Street. Now it was run by Quelina and her brother Matty.

Matquel's needed a face-lift and a refurbishment.  Quelina asked Miss Holly to drop by at the shop to give her some ideas how to go about it. She also told her that she will find the new shopkeeper that they hired a few months ago. Miss Helen was going to be there waiting for her.

Miss Holly had gotten a small antique cherub angel statue to welcome Miss Helen to the community.  She thought it was the perfect gift for the young lady.

She knew that the little cherub will make Miss Helen quite happy. Miss Holly entered the shop and introduced herself. She presented Miss Helen with the little statue and welcomed her to the community.

Miss Helen was waiting for the pretty young lady and she was exactly as she expected her to be. Miss Helen was advised by Quelina to treat Miss Holly as part of their family. After all Holly was like a sister to them. Helen was  thrilled with the little statue that Miss Holly gave her as a gift and was very thankful.

Both the young ladies found the right spot for it in the shop for the time being among the antique and fine china pieces. Helen had a feeling that she found a true friend in Miss Holly.

Miss Holly gave a spin around the shop to see what was needed to be done. Miss Helen felt at home and she was so happy being part of Regent Street and it's community.

This is all for today. Make sure to keep tuned for the 11th Day of Christmas.

Take Care and See You Soon.

9th Day of Christmas - Visiting The Coffee Corner

 Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Waking up to a rainy day on Sunday morning, Miss Holly decided to stay indoors keep warm and enjoy her kitchen while baking scrumptious goodies for Christmas. Her favorite were the Christmas Puddings and fruit cakes.

As the afternoon passed, and the rain halted, she decided to go to her favorite coffee shop for a hot chocolate.   Manuel was a perfectionist when it came to his delicious pastries and cakes. He offered a variety of coffees and his hot chocolate was the best in town.  Before she left she decided to take one of her freshly baked Christmas Cakes that she just finished decorating.

The Coffee Corner was a very small shop and most of the time it got overwhelmed with crowds that want to be served. Thankfully today, it wasn't the case. The people decided to stay indoors because of the rain.  There was only Manuel and Mr. Thorton one of regulars that visited the shop.

Miss Holly stepped inside and the shop smelled of cinnamon and coffee.  She sat on one of the stools and presented the Christmas Cake to Manuel.  She knew that Manuel did better cakes than she did but she was sure that he would enjoy it just as much.

Manuel was so pleased and thankful to Miss Holly for being so thoughtful. He asked her what did she like to have. Miss Holly with a smile replied with the usual; a piece of 'Black Forest' and a Hot Chocolate with cream to go with it.

Manuel was quick to server the young lady and told her that today it was on the house. She thanked him for his generosity.  The rain started to pour again but Holly was happy as can be looking outside of the window, being warm and cosy with her yummy hot chocolate and cake.

That is all for today.  Tomorrow Miss Holly has quite the task to visit 'Matquel's Antiques & China Shop', so make sure to keep tuned.

Take care and see you soon.

Hugs,

8th Day of Christmas - Visiting Miss Quelina

 Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

It's Saturday afternoon and like every other week Miss Holly has tea with her dearest friends Miss Leah and her sister Miss Quelina. Leah and Quelina shared a small house together and Holly made it a point that Saturday afternoons was to be spent with the girls just like how they did before when they were kids.

Holly always got something to share with her friends over tea; a cake, a tin of biscuits or on occasions even some of her own  home made scones.  Today was no exception, only that today she got something Christmasy especially for Quelina. Quelina was Holly's age and she had moved to Regent Street before Leah did to run the family business, 'Matquel's Antiques and China Shop.'

Holly arrived right on time like always. She enjoyed helping the girls prepare for tea. Today Leah was staying late at the boutique as it was the Saturday before Christmas.  Quelina was there to welcome Holly at the door.

Holly made a Christmas Wreath for the girls so they could hang it outside the door.

Quelina loved it and she thanked her sweet friend for the kind gesture. Holly enjoyed making these little Christmas craft thingies.  Quelina immediately opened the door to hang the wreath outside.

Holly and Quelina started preparing some sandwiches and tea while waiting for Leah to arrive.

The two friends talked about life at Regent Street. Quelina talked about the family business and that Matquel's has a new shop assistant as the previous one has retired. She was also thinking of refurbishing a bit the shop too. Quelina asked Holly  to visit the antique shop whenever she had some time to spare so she could help out with some new designs.  When it came to the interior decor Holly always had that extra flare to colors and eye catching detail.

An hour later, Leah arrived home and to her surprise she found the beautiful Christmas wreath waiting for her at the door. Without thinking twice, she already knew that it was Holly that did the wreath. It made her smile when she thought of her sweet friend;  "Holly and Christmas always fitted so well together. "

Leah was famished the second she entered the room and smelled the delicious tea party that the girls prepared for their Saturday afternoon.

This is all for today. Keep tuned for tomorrow's 9th day of Christmas. Let's see where Holly will take us to.

Take  Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,

7th Day of Christmas - Visiting Master Ben

 Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Miss Holly was so looking forward to visit Master Ben who has been feeling very poorly in the past few days. She had prepared something special for the little boy that would definitely brighten up his spirits.

Miss Holly thought it was a good idea to visit the little boy late in the morning. She was hoping that by then he would be up and about. The house keeper welcomed Holly at the door and lead her to to the little boy's pretty room which was on the top floor.  She was so excited to see Ben.

She entered the cosy bedroom where she found the little boy tucked in his bed and his mother, Mrs. Hayward reading a story to him.

Mrs. Hayward was so pleased to see Miss Holly. Little Ben definitely needed some cheering up as he had been in bed for the past week.  Miss Holly told her that she visited Heather the  day before and the little girl had told her that Ben wasn't well at all so she wanted to give him a gift to cheer the poor lad.

Mrs. Hayward could see that Holly had gotten something special for Ben. Ben loved his pirate ships and toy soldiers and she was sure that he would be extremely happy with the Nutcracker Toy Soldier.  She took the opportunity to do some errands while Holly was visiting Ben. so she left the two to themselves. After all Ben needed some company.

Miss Holly moved closer to Ben's little bed and handed the Nutcracker Soldier to him. She could tell that the boy wasn't feeling well. He looked so pale but he was more than happy to receive such a gift.

Ben had never seen anything like the Nutcracker Soldier before and asked Miss Holly why did the Toy Soldier was called a Nutcracker. Holly explained to him that the Toy Soldier could crack the nut shells by putting the nut between the soldier's  jaw. At the back of the Soldier there was a leaver which once forced downwards, the jaw would crack the nut shell.  She also told him that these nutcrackers were also associated with Christmas because of the beautiful Christmas story 'The Nutcracker and The Mouse King' by ETA Hoffmann.

Miss Holly told Ben the story of The Nutcracker and the little boy was mesmerized by her words. At the end of the story he jumped out of bed and wanted to play with his new Nutcracker Soldier and his own tiny tin soldiers.

Holly was so happy to see the little boy out of bed and eager to play. She let him play for a few minutes but she didn't want Master Ben to over do it. So she picked up the lad and tucked him back to bed.

She placed the Nutcracker Soldier next to him on his bedside table. She told him that Heather missed him very much and that he had to rest and recover so he could go and play with her. Ben was so looking forward to show Heather his new toy. He told Holly that Dr. Keller was visiting him everyday and gave him good medicine so he could get better soon.

Miss Holly told him that he should be very thankful that Dr. Keller was taking good care of him. She kissed the sweet little boy's forehead and wished him a speedy recovery. Ben thanked her for the special gift and told her that he was already feeling better since she had visited him.  Miss Holly was more than happy to hear those words. With that, she left little Ben to rest knowing that the Nutcracker was by his side looking over him.

So this is all for today. Tomorrow, Miss Holly will be having tea with Miss Leah and her sister Quelina, but I am sure she will be visiting Dr. Keller for giving his attention to Master Ben. So keep tuned for 8th Day of Christmas.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,
