A New Project - The Traditional Dolls House

Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are feeling fine and started the month of October on a good note. The weather since yesterday has changed drastically with storms during the night and also during the day. At least I know that this will keep me indoors and I can work on my miniatures and projects. Before I start I wanted to welcome the new followers to my blog. Welcome!

Finally today I am going to be sharing with you one of my new projects. It's another discontinued Dolls House Emporium kit going way back since 1990  called The Traditional Dolls House. The Traditional Dolls house is a very simple kit. One would consider it suitable for kids and it's also ideal for beginners. This particular dolls house is not exactly for me, but for my little daughter Leah who has been asking me for it for quite some time.

To this four roomed dolls house I will also be adding the DHE Classical Basement which fits like a dream  and for good reasons.

The Traditional Dolls House, going way back in years was always very similar to DHE's Classical dolls house.

The Traditional Dolls House

I have found an old picture from a catalog featuring the Traditional dolls house with Berkeley Basement. The dolls house has the same dimensions as The Classical, only that The Classical has two extra rooms.

In time The Traditional Dolls House got an upgrade which looked more like The Classical but still remained with four rooms. The Traditional was discontinued and the new upgraded dolls house was called The Park House was introduced in 1999.

The Park House

In the years that followed even this was discontinued but The Classical Dolls House remains up to this very day.

The Classical Dolls House
Knowing that The Classical remained faithful to it's original dimensions, I knew that after all these years The Traditional would have fitted perfectly onto  The Classical Basement.

I was so looking forward to try to dry build it to see how it looked and as I suspected it fitted exactly on to the basement.

The Traditional Dolls House with the Classical Basement
I started working firstly on the basement.  Leah and I went to purchase the paint together. I asked her in what color did she want her dolls house and she went for a blue color. So we went to the blue section of paints and with her small fingers she pointed to an egg shell blue. The girl already has taste. I wouldn't have chosen a different color to hers.

On the same evening, I got busy painting the walls and floors.

Once those were done. I started building the pieces together. Thinking about it, it was my first DHE basement that I ever built since I took the hobby, so this was quite new to me.

I also got to paint the windows and door in white.

The outdoor staircases were painted in a light grey but I have added fine sand to the paint to make it look textured.

I decided to tile the front garden. Even though it's for little Leah, I wanted something that would remain intact for many years to come.

It will take me a while to finish but I am sure that I will get there.

This is what I did so far and I am quite pleased with the out come.

This is all for today. I hope that I will get to finish the basement and start working on the house. Leah is keeping an eye on her house and is interested in its progress. Keep tuned for the next update on this project.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,

Rebecca xxx
