Decorating the Bathroom in The Woodcutter's Cottage

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well and that Spring is treating you well. The weather is getting slightly warmer but still not settled in for the Summer. We are still getting a few rain showers and it gets quite chilly in the evening.

I have been quite busy with miniature work for clients and hubby has been really working hard on the new premises for the move of my dolls houses. I can't wait to see them in their new permanent home which also means I will be having more room to add my big dolls houses that still need to be built.

For the past week I have been working on the bathroom for the Woodcutter's Cottage.

Bathroom for the Woodcutter's Cottage
I really didn't know what I was going to do with this room. Such a small room, perfect for a bathroom  but I wanted to give it that little extra.

First of all I started by paneling the floor with wood strips. These are the type that you iron on. I also added a little skirting.

Still I thought that it could look much better or add a little detail. So I had gotten myself a pack of lolly sticks, cut the end parts and used them to panel the walls.

My fingers did turn blue and numb with the cutting but it was worth it all. I have stained the wall paneling and the floors and added a nice wall paper for the room.

I had a Victorian Bathroom set in my stash for quite a long time that I never got to use and  I thought that it would look lovely in this room. I wasn't sure how to position the pieces in the room and like I always say I end up playing musical furniture around the room till I get it right.

I have made my own wall shelf and a railing with some wood. I think it looked quite nice and added a few accessories to it.

After I got the bathroom set in place added some more touches here and there and I can say I am quite pleased with it. I also added a small side table which I think fitted in quite well. And so here is how it looks so far.

There is still so much that I still need to add to the room. I have to work on the beam work for the ceiling, add the lights and some more accessories.

Hope you like what I have done so far. Please keep tuned for the next update of the cottage. Next time I will be also preparing a free give away for you.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,

Rebecca xxx

  4. Well, I have to say - you have done some perfect work - once again :)
I don't think you have ever shown anything that wouldn't have made me green with envy of your talent ;)
You have such an eye for details..
Only thing missing is some stains in the tub and wash-hand basin to make it look they have been in a good use... And maybe in the toilet too.. Or maybe there's just so effective cleaner in the house who keeps it so shining *grin*

    Keep up the good work.
    Hugs, Irina

    1. Thank you so much Irina for your wonderful comments. I was thinking of adding some soapy water. I have to agree with you it does look too clean! For now I am going to leave it the way it is until I get the right feeling to dirty it. I like the shiny bathrooms I have an issue with dirty bathrooms as I am always polishing my own lol.

  6. Wonderful! I love the way the wood flooring and paneling make the room look a bit larger and they go so well with the bathroom fittings. Love the little toilet roll holder!
