Adding Miniatures to the Drawing Room - Toll House

Hello my dear friends,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Here in Malta it has been raining cats and dogs. Today is the first day of Advent. Christmas is crawling in so fast. I also wanted to welcome a new follower of my blog. Welcome Catherine.

Today I will be sharing with you some new miniatures that I have made and added to the Toll House's Drawing Room. The more I add details to this room the more I love it. I am so pleased that I have renovated it. I am taking a bit longer on this project as I am also working on the outside of the building. It is taking me ages to brick up the walls.

So firstly I have made a lovely fruit cake with polymer cake. I have placed it on a glass cake stand and placed a small fraction of the cake on a small plate. It is my first textured cake and I am really pleased how it turned out.

I have also added some hand painted miniatures that my darling father painted for me. Being so tiny there are a lot of details in them. Firstly he hand painted the umbrella stand. He also hand painted the fire place Companion set, the coal scuttle and bellows. They add so much more detail to the whole room.

They turned out perfect for the whole setting.

The safe - My little pencil sharpener was such an unexpected addition to this room that I wanted to add more to it. I have made some miniature money. I made stacks of notes, rolls and bags of coins. They turned out very well. The notes where printed from my computer.

As the door of the safe does work, I added two shelves in the safe. One below to cover the hole at the back and the sharpener and another shelve in the middle. I have added my new miniature money inside and it just looked perfect. All Toll Houses had a safe and some even two.  The final result of the safe. I have displayed it open and it just looks so real. Too bad they aren't real and all mine. :-)

The Safe full of money.
Making curtains for this particular room was a nightmare especially the one next to the stair case. Most Toll Houses didn't have heavy curtains especially the windows on the lower floors. The toll collector needed unobstructed views to see who was passing from the bridge or boarder. My drawing room needed something more richer and so I have made some swags and tails for these arched windows.

I also found this lovely trolley to add to the room and added some more accessories.

And so far this is how the drawing looks like at the moment. Lord Gilmore is very happy with it.

So this is what I did so far. I hope you all like it.

I also wanted to let you know that my 6th book is now available to download. This time it is a Christmas Book called Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement Moore.
