Furnishing the Witch's Den. - Fairy Tale Magical Mystery Tower

Hello my dear friends,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Here in Malta it's getting warmer and warmer and definitely Summer is in the air. The days are getting longer. I love Summer even if it gets really hot. I also wanted to welcome a new follower to my blog Krizze. WELCOME!

Today I wanted to share with you some new furnishings that I have been working on for the witch's den in my fairy tale Magical Mystery Tower.

Like you have seen before I had made the fire surround and bought two pieces of bare wood furniture which I have stained and painted to fit the scene. These will be filled with most of the miniatures that I have made myself out of polymer clay.

I have altered the small table which holds on it the Beauty and the Beast's magical rose. To be more exact I have altered the base of the rose's dome to make it look more like the one in the motion picture. At first I thought of painting the base in a darker shade to match the furniture but still to me it didn't fit in. Then going back to the motion picture of Beauty and the Beast I realized that there was no base to the dome so I eliminated the base completely. As the surface of the small table was altered by me by adding marbled polymer clay, it was easier for me to work with. I am really pleased with it's out come.

Just like I have been saying before these two rooms are very, very small. So much ideas in so little room. I wanted to add a table in the middle of the room but unfortunately the ready made tables where too big so I have scratched built a small reflector table and stained it accordingly to fit in the scene. It fitted in perfectly and I am really pleased with the out come.

As this room is going to be themed on the fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs I found an old oval picture frame which I wasn't using and changed it into the Magical Mirror that belonged to the evil queen.

To add to this Mirror I have made a scratched built book stand made out of scraps of wood and polymer clay. The stand itself is made out of wood and to give it an extra punch I have made a serpent dragon out of polymer clay. It fitted with the scene perfectly.

To add to this book stand I have made a spell book to fit the scene. As the book stand was going to be placed right near the Magic Mirror it was only appropriate that the spell book will be opened with the Magic Mirror spell. I have quoted the same words which have been used in Disney's Motion Picture Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,

"Slave in the magic mirror come from the farthest space, through wind and darkness I summon thee. Speak! Let me see thy face."

Then on the other page I quoted the other piece,

"Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"

The book fitted the stand perfectly and I really like how it turned out in the room.

I have also made 2 pairs of curtains for this room. I have use bamboo sticks and decorative beads to make the pole.  As this project is based of a child's fairy tale, I didn't want that the room looks dark so I added I have made the curtains out of purplish fabric.I liked the effect that they made to this room.

So far this is what I have done. That is all for today. Please do keep tuned as next week I will be sharing with you the finished room 'The Witch's Den' of this project.

Take Care and see you soon.

Hugs,

Rebecca xxx

  1. It's a super exciting project you have going in. Your rose is very nice, as implemented beautifully. All your other details are also well made. Your brown color looks really good, a good fit with your theme.
I can not wait to see more.
