Visiting Edinburgh!

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a great weekend. Yesterday I arrived after a long weekend in Edinburgh and I have to say I loved every bit of it. Visiting Edinburgh also gave me the opportunity to visit dollshouse and miniatures in the area.

My first stop was to visit the Museum of Childhood were brought back so many sweet memories of when I was a child and I got to see some of the dollshouses that where on display.

I also got some miniatures from there.

My second stop was the Heartburn Hobbies shop.

It is specialised on train and models but also had a small selection of Dollshouse accessories.

Here are a few miniatures that I also got.

I have visited several historical places and one of the was the National Museum of Scotland. There is so much to see and so much to inspire you. I have seen furniture pieces that I have only seen in miniature

One of my favourite parts was when I visited the Egyptian culture section. The history of Egypt has always fascinated me. Did you know that the Egyptian were the first to build model houses? I have known that part for quite a while but I never actually seen them. They were used for religious purposes but nevertheless they built their own model houses. To be great surprise I got to find two original pieces displayed.

These mud brick model houses were put on the graves of the working class people. These magically provided food and water for their journey to the afterlife. The houses were built representing their own house that they lived in. These were made in the years c1985 - 1795 BC

From the Nation Museum I got this real miniature fossil from around the world display which I intentionally got it to display in a furniture cabinet within a Dollshouse.

So this is all for today. I hope you found my Edinburgh experience interesting. If you ever visit Edinburgh make sure to visit these places.

Make sure to keep tuned for the next updates and latest news.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Regards,

Rebecca xxxx

Thanks for the info on Edinburgh do you have any dollhouse info on the other places I am going to? Dollhouse miniatures are my life! And getting things in South Africa is difficult. I prefer to make things than buy but do buy those special things that cannot be made
You have made me even more excited about my trip now 😊
