Making miniatures for No 35, Leah's

Hello my dear friends,

Hope you are all well and enjoying your summer. We had a great weekend here. It has been very hot but in the evening it tends to cool down. Still with the heat and all I still love summer best. Somehow I feel healthy.

It has been a year since we started My Miniature World Group on Facebook and I am very happy to say that we have over 350 members. It is just great to meet so many friendly, like minded people that enjoy sharing the dolls house hobby.

This week for a change, I indulged myself to some polymer clay miniatures. It has been a while since I done any and it was fun to go back to it. I thought I had lost the touch of it all but I guess when you create something that you enjoy doing it doesn't leave you that easily.

I made some miniatures for Miss Leah's new home as now is the time to start filling it with accessories and adding detail to the rooms. It seems that Miss Leah is preparing a tea party to celebrate her new home.

Tea Time
So I had the lovely ceramic tea set which I had gotten from the Dolls House Emporium. It is quite pretty but I wanted to add to it to make look more realistic. The first that I started was filling the tea cups and milk. For these I used liquid polymer clay. With the tea cups I have managed to make two very tiny tea bags which I made from a real tea bag and made butter biscuits.

As Miss Leah is set in the Victorian era, the famous scones with jam on the side were a must. So I made a platter with scones on the tray. I also filled a little bowl with jam mix and I set a small side plate with an opened scone with jam.

To add more variety to the platter, I made some jam tarts which also were quite common in the Victorian period.

Then I also made the famous English Strawberry sponge which also was highly recommended during that time. I highly doubt that there wasn't a tea party without this sponge.

What is tea time without a couple of sandwiches? So there again I made a couple of sandwiches with lettuce, cheese and ham.

Sandwiches

My, My now that is quite a lovely tea party. I hope Miss Leah gets to invite me someday.

As sandwiches where involved in the making. I also made half a loaf of bread with a cut slice lying on a wooden chopping board. a bread knife and a package of butter.

Sometimes at the end of a tea party even fruit is offered. So I also made this bowl with fruit. The ceramic bowl is one of my minis that I decorate then I filled it with my own fruit that I made with polymer clay. I never did grapes before so I am really pleased how these turned out. Quite happy actually.

So this what I have done so far. The rooms are getting along nicely and just in a week or two I will start working on my new project.

So this is how the setting of the room looks like with the new miniatures.

I hope you liked my new miniature creations. There is still so much that I still need to add. Miss Leah is really excited to move in her new home.

New updates are coming up soon so keep tuned for the next installment. Take Care and Hope to see you real soon.

Furnishing the living area of No.35

Hello my dear friends.

I hope you had all a great weekend and that you are enjoying your summer. Finally we are going through a heatwave which is very normal during this time of year. Thank my lucky stars we have air-conditioning.

The winner for our personalized ceramic miniature mug give away goes to Marie Gravnar. Kindly Marie contact me so you could give me your details.

I also wanted to tell you that we have reached over 2,100 likes on My Miniature World Face Book Page. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. It means a lot to me.  And to show my appreciation another free give away is coming up on the next blog post. So make sure not to miss it.

I have been very busy in this past week making miniatures for clients and adding new products at My Miniature World Shop at etsy. It has been quite fulfilling, but I still found some time to add more to Miss Leah's new home.

The Living area of No 35 Leah's
Having a one room as a living quarters it is not easy. It is like saying having a kitchen/dining/sitting/living room all together.  Everything has to be cramped in one room. Being for Miss Leah, I wanted it to look elegant and rich but at the same time simple with all the necessities.

First I started by adding and changing some pieces of furniture. I went for a small dining table with elegant dining chairs and as it will also serve like a sitting area so I have placed a chassis lounge.

Next to it I have placed a Victorian buffet side board and a small side table.

Adding some pieces of furniture

Then I started working on the back wall. There was definitely a need for a kitchenette range to cook and keep the room warm. I kept the chimney breast right underneath the bedroom fireplace which meant that the range had to be right in the middle of the back wall. On the left hand side I thought of filling the space with a sink and the other side with some sort of side table or work surface for the kitchen.

The lovely Victorian range was built from a white metal kit and hand painted by my very talented father. He also made the doors open. It is quite a heavy piece and very detailed.  When the range was done I added l an extra flooring with tile slabs where the range will stand on and built the oven surround for it. Behind the range I also made a brick wall using versi slips and it came just right.

The Victorian Kitchenette Range
When that was all done. I went for the sink. I got myself a butler sink. I took the measurements of the space between the oven and the side wall to fit the sink without leaving any spaces.

The sink was scratched built by me and I tried to make it look slightly worn but nice at the same time. I still need to add the faucet to it.

Then I fitted the side table on the other side. I went through my stash of accessories and found some nice pieces to go with the room. On top of the sink and side table I still have to add shelves and fill them up with accessories.

Sink, kitchenette and side table fitting exactly.
There is still so much I need to add. I still have to add the cornice, skirting, picture frames and many more accessories but  now I have a clear picture of how it will look like.

And here is how it looks like so far.

And here is Miss Leah's Diary post. It is quite short as she has just arrived from her vacation.

18th July 1880

Dear Diary,

I am so pleased to be back home. Quelina and I decided to take a short vacation. I had never traveled with my sister before. It was my first time that I went to Paris. It is so magical. The food is out of the world. I never tasted anything as divine as I did there. You should have seen the boutiques there. They are no words to describe their perfection. No wonder that Paris is famous for their fashion.

I regret the moment of leaving but it feels good to  be back home and to my old routine. I have missed my own boutique and now I have better plans for it.

I also visited my new home and surprisingly I found my new range. Harry must have finished it while I was away. I am glad that Matty was here to look after things. Quelina gave me some nice fine china from Matquel's and I definitely be needing to add more. I am sure that in the next few weeks I would be able to move in with Lulu in our new home.

Now it is time for me to go to sleep. Nighty night my dear diary. I will be catching up with you sooner than you imagine.

Hugs,

Leah x

So this is all for today folks. Keep tuned for more updates soon. Miss Leah's new home now is in it's final stages and I can't wait to start another project.

Take Care and see you real soon.

Adding more to Pickett Hill

Hello everyone,

Another start of a new weekend. As usual I am busy as ever and I'm getting the hang of having the kids all to myself at home. They are quite demanding but I wouldn't have it any differently. It is quite hot like all our summers but no heat waves so far. Today I wanted to welcome 4 new followers to my blog; Dog-Ma, Yolanda Moran, Marie Gravnar and Mindy Winchester. WELCOME!

As you can see now we have the official My Miniature World Logo which is featured in our sites. I hope you like it.

Today I will be sharing with you some more of my new additions to Pickett Hill which is a 1:48 scale project. I am taking it really, really slow but I am enjoying it. I have continued building the furniture kits to get a hang of the scale and now I have started assembling windows and doors of the house. There are so many tiny fine pieces but I am no rush to finish.

I have ordered some Led lights for it as the lights have to be fixed in while building the house. I also want to introduce you to the Pickett Family. These 1:48 scale dolls where made by the amazing doll maker Susan Esmell. They where commissioned for me as I wanted to make a whole family. We have Mr. and Mrs. Pickett. Master Robbie and Miss Emma.

The Pickett Family

I have also continued building some furniture kits. They are very tiny, detailed and so precise.

Some of these kits are for the sitting/living area and dining.

Here we have the day bed and the grand father clock. They are really sweet and each kit comes with a story on every piece of furniture.

I also built the coop and the little side table. These will be placed in the dining area.

I also built the lovely detailed writing desk and chair.

I have also tried my hand with some polymer clay pieces in 1:48 scale. It is not easy as they are so tiny. I have made two plants in pots so they can go with the Wardian Case.

There is also the plate wall shelf. The plates within the kit where made out of paper and it was something which didn't look realistic as I wished. So I made the plates and bowls with polymer clay.

I also built the lamp shade table kit. Which came with the tiny lamp shade, books and glasses. We also have the occasional coffee table. The kit is so cute and you can change the face of the table with any festive season like Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine etc etc. It also has a little box with buckles where memories are kept like postcards and photos.

Finally I have painted the little arm chair and La-Dee-Da the cat. These are made out of resin. I have also draped a little blanket on the arm chair.

I also wanted to tell you that we have some new wonderful Ceramics miniatures which are available from My Miniature World Shop at etsy,

New range of miniature ceramics
So this is all for today. I hope you have enjoyed these little miniature kits and additions. I just can't wait to have their house ready.

Hopefully next post we will be back with Miss Leah's home. So keep tuned for more updates.

Wishing you all a happy weekend.

Take Care and see you soon.
