The Miniature Carousel

 Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope you all had a great weekend. I have been quite busy but I am really happy that I managed to do this miniature Carousel. 

I printed the miniature carousel on an A4 cardboard, cut it and built it. 

At the moment the carousel is standing proudly at the Miniaturist Lady Adelaide. 

Sophie spends a lot of time there among the dollshouses and miniatures but she fell head over heels in love with the carousel.

It looks magical and the horses stand so proudly in place.

I am happy how it this little project turned out. It took me a while to finish but it was definitely worth it. So this is all for today, I hope you liked it.  Make sure to keep tuned for the next updates.

The Arrival of Tilly at Regent Street

 Hello Everyone,

Today I am very happy to introduce a new arrival at Regent Street who will be living right above The Miniaturist. 

Her name is Tilly she had quit a long way to travel and now she's settling in.  She has such a beautiful face. She fitted perfectly in the bedroom above the Miniaturist. 

I think she will be quite comfortable here and it's like she was meant to be in this room. 

I couldn't resist not taking some photos of her. 

This beauty was made also by my dear friend Beverley Senatore. I am very sure she will be very happy being part of Regent Street.

11th Day of Christmas - Visiting The Miniaturist

  Hello Everyone,

"On The Twelve Days of Christmas, Miss Holly will be visiting Regent Street to bring joy and wonder during the magical time of Christmas. "

Just two days before Christmas, Miss Holly wanted to spend her day decorating her home for Christmas. It was one of her favorite things to do before Christmas. Her little Christmas tree stood proudly near the window. A brand new nativity set that she placed on the hall table. Her stocking hanging from the fireplace's mantel. Little ornaments and garlands in every part of the house. 

While putting away all the boxes back to storage she found another box with her old small nativity set that she had used for the past few years. It was a pity that she wasn't going to bring it out this year and felt very sorry for it. It was a such a small set compared to the new one that she had just bought for herself. As she looked at it an idea came to mind.  She was told that an artist lived right above The Dickens Book Shop who loved building and making miniatures. 

She put on her hat, picked up the Nativity Set and set off to the Miniaturist to give her the little set. Lady Adelaide was so surprised to see that Miss Holly has visited her too. In the past days she had heard about her visits all around Regent Street and she was honored that she thought of her. 

Miss Holly was so happy to visit her; not only to give her the Nativity Set but also to see the wonderful dolls houses and miniatures Lady Adelaide did. Miss Holly was so impressed and she was happier knowing that her Nativity couldn't find a better home than this. It was perfect.

Lady Adelaide couldn't be more thrilled with the miniature Nativity and was very thankful to Miss Holly. She found the right place for it in the middle of the room among her other miniatures. 

Lady Adelaide showed Miss Holly around the room and had a lovely chat about miniatures and the hobby.

Miss Holly was looking forward to visit again and asked Lady Adelaide if she would do a Christmas house for her in miniature. Lady Adelaide only smiled and told her that she had a whole year to prepare for it but promised Holly that she would have it before next year's Christmas. 

Miss Holly was already getting excited about it even if she had to wait another year. 

This is all for today. Tomorrow will be our last day for the 12 Days of Christmas. Let's see were our Miss Holly will visit.

La Maison De Ville

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are well and had a great weekend. My Summer is here and it is getting warmer every day. I am looking forward to it like every year, even if this year I would be spending it indoors.

Most of us dolls house miniaturist are keeping indoors working on our projects, Lady Adelaide has been keeping busy working on her own. 

It has been a year since she moved to Regent Street and has become quite known for her artistry in miniatures. A French noble gentleman  has asked Lady Adelaide to builtd a beautiful dolls house for his wife. 

She took quite sometime to finish it and during this weekend, finally, 'La Maison De Ville' has been completed with wall paper and flooring. 

Lady Adelaide hasn't decorated it with furniture and accessories, so she can let the French Madam enjoy adding her own pieces. We are so sure that once 'La Maison De Ville' will be delivered to 'Le Château' in France, the new owners will love it!

I hope you like the new miniature 1:144 scale dolls house that I got as a kit last March at the DHNS in Arnhem. I am very happy how it turned out. Make sure to keep tuned for more.

Halloween at The Miniaturist

Hello everyone,

Are you all set for the Spooky night? Are the Jack-o-lanterns lit? Halloween here in Malta is pretty new and let's say its barely recognized, but it is being introduced and I can see a few children all dressed up in their Halloween costumes trick-o-treating in the streets.

Halloween in My Miniature World is not grand but there are a few houses that do enjoy decorating.  Regent Street is no exception! I can see that Mr. Rookie has dressed up his J.R. Art Gallery with some spooky paintings. Miss Leah has changed her mannequins' dresses with darker shades. Mrs. Ella has nicely decorated the toy shop for Halloween. 

Lady Adelaide is quite new to Regent Street. Actually it is her first Halloween here. Walking back home  she saw most of the shops had a touch of Halloween. Even The Dickens Book Shop had a few spooky books in the window.

She went to her room and looked at all her beautiful dolls houses and miniatures she created. The door leading to her kitchen was ajar and from there she could see the huge orange pumpkin that she won a few days ago at the fair. She smiled at it, as she didn't know what to do with it. She thought of sharing it with her neighbors. It was almost big as one of her dolls houses. Keeping that in mind she thought of doing something different; 'A Pumpkin House!'

She got up and and flung the kitchen door open. She  scooped out all the pumpkin. There was going to be a lot of pumpkin pie making and pumpkin soup to stew in the next couple of days. Instead of carving a jack-o-lantern she opened a door and two windows.  She decorated the front like all the pretty houses she had and her pumpkin house was done. 

I think Lady Adelaide did a good job. For the very first time in Regent Street there was a miniaturist that made a pumpkin house right in time for Halloween.

The Grodnertal Doll Sisters

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all well and that you are enjoying your weekend! Before I start, I want to welcome the new followers to my blog. Welcome!

I couldn't wait to share with you something that I received by post yesterday afternoon. I am so excited to have them. I call them the Grodnetal Doll Sisters which I have named Val and Clem short for Valentine and Clementine.

It happens to me quite often when I am surfing the internet looking for something and end up finding something unrelated. E-Bay; a dangerous place for me. I really try hard to stay away from there especially when it comes to miniatures.

I found a pair on tiny antique, intricately carved dolls.  They are called Grodnertal Peg wooden Dolls  or even known as Dutch Dolls and are made in Germany.

Today they arrived in their glass case and I was blown away with the tiny little things.

The pair are only two centimeters high with painted features and real hair. They come with their original dresses and have been preserved and kept together in this glass case. Believe it or not they go way back since 1870. Coincidence???!!!

I wonder to whom they belonged to years back. I wonder if there was a little girl who played with them and kept them in the case together for safe keeping, so she wouldn't lose them. I want to think of the dolls of being sisters that have been together for almost 150 years. For some reason Val (the doll in the green dress) gives me the impression that she is the older sister, the one who is more superior, more protective to her younger sister. Clem on the other hand is the devoted one,  loving and looks up to her older sister. 

I kept looking at the tiny dolls and wonder what I would do with them. The '1870' kept ringing in my head which only meant that the two had to be part of The Miniaturist project. Lady Adelaide was thrilled with the dolls. She wanted them to be part of her collection and still I wasn't sure where to fit them. 

Being preserved in a glass case for all these years I wouldn't have them displayed in open air. I remembered I had gotten a few glass domes from the Big Event dolls house fair in The Netherlands last year in October and I thought they would be ideal for the dolls. I didn't want to separate the two sisters; that would be heart breaking! So now they are under one dome together happy in a new home. 

I wasn't sure of the table in the middle of the room. So I found a better pedestal table and found the right spot for them in the Miniaturist Room. 

I am so happy to have them. part to my collection.

Closing the Curtains to The Dickens Books Shop & The Miniaturist

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Here in Malta is basically Summer! Wonderfully Sunny and Hot. Great for swimming and a stroll by the sea in the evening. Can't wait for the kids to get their summer break from school. I enjoy spending some quality time with them. 

Today I get to share with you the final post on the three room boxes; The Dickens Book Shop, The Miniaturist and The Miniaturist's Bedroom which have been shared on the Tv Show 'Life & Style' on the Maltese Channel Net TV. 

What I love about these three room boxes that I got to design them myself and make them fit on top of each other so eventually I could turn them in a one project which now is called 'The Dickens Book Shop & The Miniaturist'.

In the last episode on the 'Life & Style' I shared the bedroom which completed the whole project. I have added the room box to the rest and fixed the lights in place. 

Once the roof was in place over the other rooms. I have noticed that the building on the outside needed something more to make it look as a whole unit and not just boxes on top of each other.

I didn't like it one bit so I added the trimmings at the front and on the side walls were the rooms meet.

There was something missing in the front especially between the windows on the first floor. It looked to plain and too empty. I couldn't think of anything until I looked at the library and saw the portrait of Charles Dickens. The man actually inspired me to make a wall plaque. 

 Today 149 years ago, to be precise Thursday, 9th June 1870 the world lost one of the most amazing authors, Charles Dickens at the very young age of 58. The man never fully recovered from his train accident which happened a few years before. I knew that day was close so I decided to make a wall plaque with the year '1870' using polymer clay. 

It fitted in so perfectly and added that little detail. 

Being satisfied with the new details, the project was complete and the three room boxes became one dolls house.

Finally The whole dolls house now stands proudly next to The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn in my Regent Street. 

I still can't believe that I actually  completed it and to think that I shared it's progress through a whole season on a Tv show. In June 'Life & Style' comes to an end for the Summer Holidays.

Today The Dolls House Emporium also featured the complete project on their Facebook Page. Thank you DHE for the feature and for being my greatest inspiration throughout the years!

I hope you have enjoyed this project as much as I did. It is hard saying goodbye to it especially when it took me seven months to complete.
