Completing the Three Little Piggies Project

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all well. It's been a few weeks since my last post. I have been very busy with my forthcoming book 'Designing and Decorating a Period Dolls' House'. Cross your fingers that it will be out by 27th August 2024. 

I am very pleased to say that the Three Little Piggies Project is complete and it's already being displayed at My Miniature World Museum. 

Decorating the Three Little Piggies came so naturally. It was like I knew where everything fitted and how. 

One of the original furniture pieces that I scratch-built for the room was the little bed where the three piggies slept I made it big enough so the three piggies could share. 

A few months ago when I was in Arnhem for the DHNS I had got a few ceramics that I knew were perfect for this project. 

I also made a few ceramics and piggy mugs too.

Hazel had made a Art in Wax painting of the three piggies for this project. 

I also got to make the portraits of the proud parents over the fireplace.

And here is the complete project. The three little piggies are Hertwig bisque dolls made in Germany in the early 1900's. 

The Three Little Piggies and the Big Bad Wolf also made it on the news.

Villa Marie - Albin Schönherr 1950's Dollshouse

Hello Everyone,

How are you? Hope you are all well.  You all know that at the end of January, when I went to the Dolls House & Miniature Fair in Expo Houten, I got this cute German Vintage dolls house 'Villa Marie'.

Villa Marie is an Albin Schönherr dolls house made in the early 1950's. Albin Schönherr worked for the manufacturer Moritz Gottschalk in Marienberrg in Germany in the late 1800's. In the year 1893 Albin Schönherr established his own dollshouse business in Niederlauterstein in Germany. 

Villa Marie is still in a mint condition considering it's age.  It still has it's original wall papers and flooring. The front decor is still intact. I assumed the previous owners tried to restore it by sanding down the sides of the little house and removed the original windows. Thank goodness that the damaged done with the attempt of the restorations is very minimal.

I will mildly try to restore it without destroying it's age and charm. I will try to make the windows myself,  keeping in mind that I will remain faithful to it's original windows.   

It's is a 1:16 scale dolls house, like most of the vintage dolls house of it's time. I had a stash of some vintage Barton, Lundby and Dol Toi furniture pieces that fitted in the little two roomed house perfectly. 

In the entrance you will find the living room with a sitting room set and kitchen area. 

On the top floor you will find the bed room.

In the little baby's cot there is a Vintage knitted miniature doll Frieda made by Annelies de Kort and Otto the antique Hertwig, tiny bisque teddy made in Germany.

Lotti the antique Hertwig doll will be living in this cute house. 

I think she looks very happy in her new home. 

I might be adding some more vintage accessories to it and see if I can add some lights to the house. I will keep you updated with the progress of the restoration once it is complete.

Completing 'Cotton Tail Cottage'

Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are well. It's time for jelly beans, chocolate eggs and cute bunnies. Tomorrow is Easter!!! I am really happy to say that I have completed my Easter project 'Cotton Tail Cottage'. 

I have added so many cute little Easter miniatures that I got to make and paint. Lots of Chocolate Easter Bunnies, Chocolate Eggs, chicks and bunny cupcakes. 

The Easter Bunny is so happy with the amount of work he has done and I am sure that the children are going to enjoy their Easter Egg Hunt. 

One of my favorite miniatures in this project is the antique little lamb.

Here are some pictures of how the room looks like. 

Hold on! Who is there in the front? Does the Easter Bunny have guests? 

Oh there are three little children dressed up in bunnies all set for their Easter Egg Hunt. The little bisque darlings are also antiques going back to the early 1900's made in Germany by Hertwig. They represent my three children Matthias, Raquel and little Leah. 

The Easter Bunny welcomed them in and they have loved his little house that smelled divine of candy and chocolate.
