The Queen Mary's Dolls House Bedroom Diorama on Life & Style TV Show

Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are fine and having a great week. The kids are finally off from school and hopefully this weekend I will sink my teeth  in my new project. I have been wanting to start it off for months now. Before I start I want to welcome the new followers of my blog. Welcome everyone!

Today I will be sharing with you one of my favorite small projects which was shared on the 'Life & Style' TV Show on the Maltese Chanel Net TV.

As I only had two remaining tv shows before the season was over, I didn't want to start a new project knowing that I will never finish it on time. I decided to share the Queen Mary's Dolls House Bedroom Diorama which has quite a story to tell especially the historic part of the Queen Mary's Dolls House itself. 

Marbeck and I introduced the start of the diorama and I described the pieces of furniture that I had for the room. As a few of you already know, the furniture pieces of the bedroom are replicas of the original with the approval of  Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

The furniture pieces are quite beautiful and I have added more accessories to diorama. 

I had three slots of around 5 minutes each to share the room. Here is the video clips of the show. 

Charles and I presented the last two slots of the show, were we shared the complete project.

Even if the room is not completely the same as the Queen's Bedroom in Windsor Castle, I am very happy with the out come.

Completing the Queen's Bedroom Diorama - Queen Mary's Dolls House

Hello Everyone,

Another week has gone by once again. Hope you are all well. It' been a rough few days for me. Have been under the weather and couldn't do much. Spent the days indoors taking it easy as much as I could. 

Queen's Bed Room

As a few already know I had started the Queen's Bedroom Diorama back in 2016. A beautiful collection with a few replica furniture pieces from the Queen Mary's Dolls House that is in Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom. 

Having a very bad cold with a constant splitting headache, I couldn't do much, so I did a little work on the labels for the dolls houses which are to be exhibited very soon to the public. 

While making the labels I realized that the Queen's Bedroom wasn't completed and that I had forgotten all about it.

So I decided to add the final additions to the room. It brought some sweet memories when I actually visited the Queen Mary's Dolls House in Windsor Castle last July. It was a dream come true, a magical experience that I will never forget to actually see the real thing. 

The original  Queen's Bedroom is massive; double the size of the diorama and no wonder that this diorama can't contain all the furniture pieces like the original one.  For obvious reasons my diorama had to be adapted but I still tried to keep close to the original. 

For starters I really tried a few  of my own accessories. The dressing table set which was part of the collection was what I would call basic compared to the real thing.

Seeing the original dressing table with it's fine rich accessories, there was no way I was going to come close to it but adding a few more accessories would have made a big difference.

I got myself a pair of clear glass candle sticks, did the silver jewelry boxes with polymer clay, added a few more hair brushes and painted them and added a tiny scissors.

The original bedroom has two interior doors and two beautiful tallboys. There was no way I could fit two in the room, but what really caught my eyes were the amazing detailed figurines on the tallboys.

I decided to add a figurine which I hand painted myself.

 While I was in Windsor and came in front of this particular room I noted that the room only had two paintings. The first one was the Queen's Mother the Duchess of Tech painted by F.O. Salisbury. This painting is the one that you see on the mantle piece above the fire place. Then there is another painting which is quite hidden I would say, Mary Queen of Scots by Gerald Kelly. For some reason the story of Mary Queen of Scots always fascinated me even as a child so I decided to add the one painting.

I added a few more pieces to the mantel piece of the fireplace.  Have added a few matching vases and also added the mantel clock that I painted too.  I got to add the silver mounted wall candle holders which I have painted too to match with the original setting. 

Finally the one thing that I really wanted to add to the room was an interior door. At least one of the doors I would say. The diorama looked too plain without a door so I really tried hard to come close to the original room. 

I was quite pleased with the outcome and now I can say that the Queen's Bedroom Diorama is complete.

Now the diorama is in it's rightful place among the other projects ready to be displayed.

Making the Ceiling and lights for The Queen Mary's Bedroom

How are you all? Hope you are all fine and have enjoyed your weekend. I haven't posted as regular. Had a very bad cold which kept me away from my play time. Also I have to say that I have a new member that joined my family. Yeps I have a 5 week old puppy. She is really sweet. A baby Chihuahua. Trust me not to get the smallest dog. A miniature for a miniaturist.  She needs some extra attention just like a new baby.

So for the past week I have finally finished the ceiling and lights for the Diorama.

I never got to see the Queen Mary's dolls house in Windsor Castle but I have been through books and the details are amazing. One thing that always impressed me was the ceiling and the very obvious Chandelier.

There was no way I would get a chandelier looking anything like the one in the real room. So instead I have improvised. 

I had one of these six armed ceiling lights and I thought it could have an uplift.

It took me hours and days to finish it off. It was the first chandelier that I ever made. I might use a different method eventually but I am pleased with the results. I have beaded it all and used tiny glass beads and also crystals.

When that was done I was pondering how I was going to make the beautiful ceiling. The kit didn't come with one so once again I had to see what I could find.

I came across a nice high definition picture of a ceiling which I believed was just right for my project. Took some measurements  and printed the picture in a poster size which took me almost 6 A4 sheet papers.

Now the tricky part was how to fix the picture to the ceiling which is angled in four sides. And besides all that I still had to add the lights .

The ceiling was going to be slightly difficult to work with as the ceiling itself wasn't straight as it had 2 supporting beams. So the only thing I could think of was adding  a piece of mdf wood with the same thickness of the support beams. 

With that I took the measurements. I have stuck the ceiling paper to a cardboard so it would be much neater and stronger and slowly I started to stick the ceiling to the roof inside.

I was over joyed that the ceiling looked so perfect with the measurements and all. It was just meant for it I guess.

When that was done I was very anxious to put the top on top of the room. I wondered if it would look up to standard. But once it was there I was relieved to see it in it's glory.
