The Stair Well in The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all doing well and that you are enjoying the beginning of Summer! The kids are now off from school for their summer break which will allow me to enjoy their company more and I will get to do more miniature work.

Finally the staircase in the Master Swordsman Pub & Inn are all ready. They did take quite a while to finish but it's definitely worth it. 

Today being a public holiday in Malta, I got to spend most of the day in my workshop, finishing the staircases. 

I still had to do three set of stairs with stair rods and holders to fit the carpeting in the stairs. 

I started off by fixing the stair posts which I have stained. Then I drilled the lower part of each step where the holders of the stair rods would be placed.

Once the stair rods and the holders were in place, I have placed the carpet and continued working with the stair railing and posts. 

When finally the three sets of stair were done I placed them one by one in their place. 

I was so happy seeing the staircases in place with the carpet and all. The next step was adding more decoration to the stairwell. I have added wall lights at the back wall but still it could afford more.

I decided to do a few paintings. The paintings had to be sword related. Just like I have done in the J.R. Art Gallery, I printed the paintings on canvas then framed them. 

Two of the frames are actually photos. The images have been edited to look more like paintings. After all this project is called The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn and I couldn't have any less but the pictures of a real Master Swordsman. I'm lucky enough to know how to handle a sword and use it but I'm luckier that I am a daughter of Master Swordsman. I'm very proud that my father indeed is a "Maestro" in the art and this is quite a tribute to him. Sword fighting runs through me. I have known the sword from a very young age. I would say I grew up with the same discipline, dedication and love for the sword and it's all thanks to him.  Besides that we still have our miniatures in common. So this goes to you Paps! Thanks for being a wonderful father and for always being there for me.

So most of the paintings will go around the whole project which also include the stairwell. In front of the guest room on the first landing I added a piece of furniture and added a few accessories. 

So here are a few more pictures of the stairwell in the project.

The Front of the Master Swordsman Pub & Inn

Hope you are having a great week. Today is the first day of Summer. Looking forward like always to my warm or more likely hottest 3 months of the year. In a few days the kids will start their long school break and that is something that I totally enjoy.

After coming back from Germany, I didn't have much time to do anything with my project. Posy had a great time there too and you can find out about her Adventure in Bavaria Germany in her blog.

I worked mostly on the front of the building of The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn which makes the building pretty much complete on the outside.

I started off by wall papering the interior of the front. Every wall paper corresponds according to each room.

When the wall paper was set and dry. I added the inside window trimmings and also added the details to the front.

I added the pavement to the front which I have individually tiled using textured cardboard.

I am very happy with the result of the paving and with that the front was hinged in place to the building.

As much as I like the buildings looking clean, I enjoy weathering the outside especially a building that has a very light color. Using earth color pastels I started weathering the roof terrace and then the front.

When I was happy with the weathering of the building, it was time to start working on the curtains for the windows. I like making my own curtains for most of my dolls houses. I start first by designing the pelmet and cutting them out using cardboard.

With the pelmets done, I covered them with matching fabric which was used for the rooms.

It took me a while to finish them, but at the end it's always worth it.

With that the front was complete. Here are a few more pictures.

It's looking good so far. Most probably I will still be adding a few touches here and there.

Hope you all like how the front turned out. I can't wait to add the building to the other properties in my Regent Street.

Adding more Details to the Pub in The Master Swordsman

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a great weekend. Posy and I have just arrived from Germany today. I had a conference which was very interesting and enjoyed every moment of the event. Posy will be sharing some of her own adventures on her blog while being there with me. 

Before leaving for Bavaria, I got to work a little bit more on The Master Swordsman Pub & Inn.  I added a few more details to the Pub area. 

The Pub

Being the Master's Swordsman Pub & Inn you would obviously expect weaponry especially swords. My father was busy preparing some miniature hand painted swords for me to decorate the pub area. 

I decided to add the pieces hanging from the walls. I haven't fixed them permanent yet just in case I wanted to change their places and move them around. 

He also got to paint for me a small knight in armor and a pair of Civil English soldiers figurines. 

For the little knight I have made a corner wall shelf made out of wood, just for him and the pair of figurines will be placed on the fireplace mantel.

One piece that I wanted to add was another wall shelf with bottle optics. I'm quite happy how it turned out and I still have to add two more bottles there.  To add a bit more to the bar I have also painted a draft handle. 

I have also painted a few ashtrays, added glasses and bottles on the tables. I can't wait to add the clients to the area. 

There is still so much that I still want to add to the room, such as paintings and small details around. Here are few more pictures of the room so far.
