Closing the Curtains to The Woodcutter's Cottage.

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are all doing well. I have been working hard while being under the weather. The change of  the weather always effects me. Got myself one hell of a cold. I am assuming that it is the aftermath after such a tough few weeks. My darling husband is back on his feet and working hard like always. He has been trying to make up for the lost time on the new premises but I don't want him to over do it even if it will take longer than planned. 

Now I am looking forward for the Summer days. As we are approaching June, I have to admit it is the toughest month. Getting the kids to study for their final exams, just before their long summer break. Can't wait to have them at home and enjoying our hot warm Summer together.

Before I start I wanted to welcome four new followers of my blog. Mashu Tres, Jadis Wolf, Missy or Nona and Ella. A BIG Welcome!

Today I will be sharing with you the end of The Woodcutter's Cottage. I can't even believe that finally I got it all done. After the big move I am hoping to add to it a garden and maybe even some sort of barn or tool shed Only time will tell, but for now it will be standing on it's own.

The Woodcutter's Cottage

To continue were I left off, I finally finished the darn roof slates. They say patience is a virtue. While tiling the roof slates usually I try to relax and just use the time to think on my next step or project. I have painted the roof grey and gave it some more detail by shading some ares in a darker color. 

When the roof was all done I wanted to finish off the front garden of the cottage. So I started by building the low boundary wall and painted the floor in grey.

Then I got some card stock and shaded it with dark browns, lighter browns and green and cut the card into small tiles.

I have tiled the flooring and sealed it.

The cottage didn't come with the front gate so I decided to add one that fitted the space perfectly. I also trimmed the boundary wall with some wood to match the gate.

When that was complete I fixed the front to the dolls house which my hubby hinged. For some reason after all these years he still doesn't allow me to use the power tool. I don't mind it at all. I wall papered the inside of the front to match the rooms and also made myself the curtains.

I also added the last bits and accessories to the dolls house. All lights have been fixed and lit. I love the little cottage. It is decorated very simple but warm at the same time. Here are the rooms.

I also decorated the outside of the dolls house to add a few more details.

And so once again I have completed another dolls house. I am sure that there will be more added to the house especially if I have plans to add a garden to it. But I have to admit this is a wrap. I hope you like how it has turn out to be. 

A few might ask what's next on the line? At this point in time, I would say I don't have a clue. We are getting close to the move of my dolls houses in their new home and starting a new dolls house at this stage would be unwise. So for the time being I am hoping to finish of the Queen Mary's Bedroom Diorama and if it will be finished before the move I have a small room box which I might decorate. 

Next in line will definitely be a new property in Regent Street. I can't wait to start it off.

Adding more details and miniatures to Woodcutter's Cottage

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Did you have a nice weekend? How was your Easter? I am so sorry for not posting sooner. I know I had to pop in sooner as I also have to announce the lucky winner but unfortunately right after Easter I had a very rough time. It started very much on Easter. My darling husband woke up with a very bad fever and as it didn't go down at all I took him to hospital. With such a high temperature  the hospital kept him there for almost a week running tests. So you can imagine me handling my three young kids, managing the household and running to hospital to be close to my husband. It hasn't be easy especially when my husband and I do so much things together. But now he is back home. He wasn't allowed to go out for another whole week. I truly apologize.

Before I start I wanted to welcome 5 new members to my blog Irene, Jemima, Reme, Irina and Mellis. A Big welcome! Adding More to The Woodcutter's Cottage

Being busy with for the past two weeks with my family I have worked little on The Woodcutter's cottage. Little as it may seem I still did quite a bit of work.

First of all I did all the beam work on the ceilings of both the bedroom and the bathroom. The came out quite nice I have to admit.

After that was complete I added more detail to the rooms. I have added all the lights to the room. In the bedroom I thought of adding wall samplers which I have printed and framed. They look quite nice. I also added a few more accessories to the room and furniture. I think a few more additions will look nicer.

The kitchen still looked slightly bare so I added a few more accessories and once again more soapy water appeared. I had this metal bucket and added a mop and the soapy water effect. I also added some water effect in the cloth washing. Very effective indeed.

I also started working on the roof. I added the chimneys and started working on the roof slates. I am almost half way there. Hopefully by next week they will be all done.

Before I fixed the opening wall of the dolls house I had to add the matching room wall paper and add the window and door moldings. The came out really nice and I have also started working on some curtains.

So here are a few pictures of the rooms. There is still so much that I need to do.

Working on the bedroom for the Woodcutter's Cottage

Hello everyone,

Hope you are fine and doing well. I had quite a productive weekend. Have done loads of miniatures for my clients and got to do some more work on the Woodcutters Cottage. Prepared an article for a dolls house magazine and worked on some new miniatures. The premises is getting closer to the final touches. There is so much to do and I can only thank my husband Gilbert for all the work he has done. He has practical done everything that was needed, alone in he free days. So I just don't know how to thank him enough. 

I am also pleased to say that My Miniature World Group on facebook has reached over 1,200 members. I want to thank all the wonderful members. Join in and be part of our growing family. Today I get to share with you some additional work that I did on the Woodcutter's Cottage. This time I worked on the bedroom.

I first continued the flooring that still needed to be covered in wood strip and varnished it with a walnut stain.

When that was complete I wall papered the room and added the floor skirting matching the flooring. I really liked this wall paper. It suited the bedroom so well and just right for a cottage. It also complimented the bathroom next door.

Adding the furniture was slightly tricky as the room itself has the stair case so I had to be careful how to position the bed and the pieces of furniture.

I wanted it to be a simple bed room. For a change I changed the coloring of the furniture into mahogany. I wanted this room to stick out somehow. I also added a small sewing machine. There is still so many accessories that I want to add. I just like to add the pieces before I get a clear picture of the room.

I still need to add the ceiling beams, lighting and so much more. Hopefully I get to work a bit more on the outside of the house.
