Adding more details and miniatures to Woodcutter's Cottage

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Did you have a nice weekend? How was your Easter? I am so sorry for not posting sooner. I know I had to pop in sooner as I also have to announce the lucky winner but unfortunately right after Easter I had a very rough time. It started very much on Easter. My darling husband woke up with a very bad fever and as it didn't go down at all I took him to hospital. With such a high temperature  the hospital kept him there for almost a week running tests. So you can imagine me handling my three young kids, managing the household and running to hospital to be close to my husband. It hasn't be easy especially when my husband and I do so much things together. But now he is back home. He wasn't allowed to go out for another whole week. I truly apologize.

Before I start I wanted to welcome 5 new members to my blog Irene, Jemima, Reme, Irina and Mellis. A Big welcome! Adding More to The Woodcutter's Cottage

Being busy with for the past two weeks with my family I have worked little on The Woodcutter's cottage. Little as it may seem I still did quite a bit of work.

First of all I did all the beam work on the ceilings of both the bedroom and the bathroom. The came out quite nice I have to admit.

After that was complete I added more detail to the rooms. I have added all the lights to the room. In the bedroom I thought of adding wall samplers which I have printed and framed. They look quite nice. I also added a few more accessories to the room and furniture. I think a few more additions will look nicer.

The kitchen still looked slightly bare so I added a few more accessories and once again more soapy water appeared. I had this metal bucket and added a mop and the soapy water effect. I also added some water effect in the cloth washing. Very effective indeed.

I managed to add a few more accessories to both the kitchen and the living room

I also started working on the roof. I added the chimneys and started working on the roof slates. I am almost half way there. Hopefully by next week they will be all done.

Before I fixed the opening wall of the dolls house I had to add the matching room wall paper and add the window and door moldings. The came out really nice and I have also started working on some curtains.

So here are a few pictures of the rooms. There is still so much that I need to do.

Miniature Naughty Bunny digging up a Flower Pot - Tutorial

Just as I promised here I am again today. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. Tomorrow is Easter Day. Kids are already up in bed waiting for the Easter Bunny! I also wanted to welcome three followers to my Blog; Georgina Wood, Julie and Sandra Morris. Welcome!

So today we have something a bit different a special. A miniature Tutorial to make this cute naughty bunny digging up a Pot made out of polymer clay.

Naughty Bunny digging up a Pot

This cute little miniature could be used during Easter Time or just to add to your miniature garden.

To make this miniature you need: 

1) a piece of scrap polymer clay.

2) a miniature terracotta pot.

3) Miniature Spring flowers.

4) Moss or greenery.

5) fiber powder (or trim wool)

6) acrylic paint

7) pva glue

8) tea bag

9) clay tools

Step 1: Start by filling the terracotta miniature pot  with polymer clay.  Don't fill it up to the brim. You can use any color that you want. Eventually it will be covered.

Step 2: Using the same clay. Make a ball. I have made it at about 2 cm diameter. Form it as a body of a bunny without the head. The important part of it's body is practically his bottom. So don't worry how it is formed. If you are using a smaller pot always go for a small bunny.

Put the body in the pot to check for size. Like I said before don't worry if it doesn't look nothing at all like a bunny.

Step 3: Make two small balls approx 5mm diameter to make the back hinds of the bunny. Shape the into very tiny shapes like doll feet. Don't worry if they are not perfect, This is a fun project.

Step 6: Using a denting tool see where you would like to add the bunny legs on the back side and using a very tiny piece of clay add the bunny tail in the middle. Here you can start shaping the body better and see how you would like your bunny bottom.  

 

Step 7: With the flower stems make tiny holes where eventually the flowers will fit in. Don't leave the flowers there for baking. When you're done bake the clay as stating on the packaging of your polymer clay brand.

Step 8: After baking let it cool. Paint your bunny in the color that you will be furing it. I went for a grey color with touches of white. 

I have used powder felt for this bunny. You can find this in most craft shops. Some even use this for nail art. If you don't have any don't worry. Get some wool and cut it very finely It will look pretty much the same

Step 9: Using a paint brush add pva glue to the bunny body. Don't cove the whole body with pva glue if you are going to be using more than the one color. I have choose grey and white. The bunny is in grey with a white tail and a white straight line down his belly

Then start adding the felt or wool. Keep adding until you are happy. Make sure that you haven't done too much as you might lose some of his details. 

Using a fine paint brush and some black paint. Add the little details to his feet

Step 10: Cut out the flower stems to the right size you want your flowers to stand in the pot and add them to side of the pot. 

Using a paint brush add pva glue where the soil and flower stems are. Don't worry if some pva glue goes around the pot. It will look more realistic.

Step 11: Open one side of the tea bag and let the tea granules out. I like using tea for soil. It looks very natural.  Slowly add the tea granules in the pot. 

You can add some greenery in the soil if you like, or fallen leaves. I like to use moss. 

And here it is all ready to add to your project.

Hand Painted miniature featured on The Dolls' House Magazine

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all ready for The Easter Bunny and his Easter Egg Hunts. The kids have their Easter Break and so I am having some time off from the office so I can spend some quality time with them. I love it when they are at home. Obviously My Miniature World had to take a short break or let's say a few hours less than the normal. I still get to have some time for myself. 

I am pleased that The Dolls' House Magazine featured once again one of my father's hand painted dolls house miniatures on the March 2017 issue.

The hand painted detailed Hall Gong is featured in the Objects of Desire  section.

The Hall Gong & Stand is one of our most popular miniatures with our clients.

I have to admit it has been very busy at My Miniature World Shop at etsy. For the past week I have been working on quite a few orders. Last weekend I have been very productive and didn't do much on the Woodcutter's cottage. I don't mind it as long as I am working in miniature. At the end of the weekend I was exhausted but very happy. This is what I was up to last Saturday and Sunday. I am thinking of recruiting a miniature assistant to help me out.

Lots of miniature Ceramics going to their new homes.

All ready to be packed to travel a very long distance.

At My Miniature World Shop we have some new products that I am sure that you will like to see.

The new hand painted miniatures. The details are amazing. 

A few new nursery items. The Peter Rabbit & Friends Toy train, and ready made books with the lovely Vintage Paper Dolls.

Also some new furniture pieces that have made quite a hit. The Raggedy Ann & Andy chest and the new additions to the Peter Rabbit nursery.

Also lots of new miniature Books. So far I have reached the 80th book in the collection. I should really start thinking of making that miniature Library. I have a copy of each book just for myself and it is about time that they should be shelved nicely in their place. There is a weekly new book so look out for them.

As I have been having lots of requests, soon I will be introducing the 1:24 scale miniatures. I am looking forward to them and I can't wait to start. It seems that the half scale is becoming very popular.

And as promised just before Easter, time for a FREE GIVE AWAY!. I will be giving out these two miniature book with bunnies. One is called The Little Rabbit who wanted Red Wing and the other is called About Bunnies. Both are full of colorful illustration with a fine print.
