The Timekeepers Shop is Complete! A Grand Finale on 'Hello Min Hemm?'

 Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog!

How are you all? I hope you are doing well. I am beyond thrilled to finally share this moment with you. The Timekeepers Shop is officially complete! As many of you know, I have been pouring my heart into this intricate little world for quite some time. 

To celebrate its completion, I had the absolute honour of finishing the project live on the television show Hello Minn Hemm? on NET TV alongside the wonderful presenter Malcolm Pisani. It was such a joyous experience to place the final touches on this build and share the magic of miniatures with a wider audience. I have attached the full video of this final episode at the bottom of this post so you can watch the grand reveal!

Now that the exterior is beautifully weathered and finished, it is time to invite you inside. Decorating the interior of the shop was an absolute dream.

 I filled the space with all sorts of wonderful clocks, creating a room that feels alive with the ticking of time. My absolute favourite piece in the entire shop has to be the Dome Ballerina Clock. 

There is just something so delicate and magical about it. I also included a Musical Ballerina Music Box and a beautifully detailed Carousel. In Victorian times, clockmakers were true mechanical artists and often created these kinds of intricate musical toys alongside their timepieces, so it felt essential to include them in the shop.

The sweet shop also has a small work table where clocks can be fixed on the spot.

Every miniature room needs a character to bring it to life. I am so excited to introduce you to the lovely Miss Sybil! She is a stunning doll crafted by the incredibly talented doll maker Beverley Senatore. Beverley dressed Miss Sybil in a breath-taking Victorian Steampunk style that perfectly matches the atmosphere of the shop. 

She looks entirely at home among the gears and pendulums. To complement Miss Sybil and her unique style, I also created a custom clock featuring a full steampunk design. It adds a wonderful touch of industrial fantasy to the traditional Victorian setting.

For the moment, the Timekeepers Shop stands proudly on Regent Street, nestled right under The Little Angels Toy Shop. It will rest in this special spot until it is time to continue adding to the grander project!

The Timekeepers Shop: Bringing the Facade to Life on Hello Min Hemm?

 Hello everyone,

How are you all? I hope you had a great weekend. At the moment I am really excited preparing for my next dolls house fair in Schiedam. So you can imagine trying my best to fit in all the schedules. 

If you have been following the progress of the Timekeepers Shop, you know how much heart and soul I have been pouring into this little miniature project. Today, I am absolutely thrilled to share a very special update with you. It is an update that took place entirely outside my usual studio!

As you all know, recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to pack up my brushes and tools and head over to the studios of NET TV. I was invited as a guest on Hello Minn Hemm? and I spent a fantastic segment working on the shop live on air with the brilliant presenter, Malcolm Pisani. 

It is always a unique experience taking the quiet, meticulous work of miniatures into a bustling television studio. Malcolm's enthusiasm made the whole process an absolute joy.

During the episode, my main goal was to finally complete the front exterior of the shop. The facade is the very first thing that welcomes you into a miniature scene. It has to tell a story before you even peek inside.

I started by painting the front door. Getting the tone exactly right was crucial. It needed to look like a door that has welcomed countless customers over decades. Once the base coat was down, it was time for my favourite part of any build, the weathering!

Using a combination of washes and dry brushing techniques, I aged the entire front of the building. I worked carefully to build up layers of grime and shadow in the crevices. This softened the fresh paint to give it that authentic, weathered patina. There is something incredibly satisfying about transforming pristine materials into architectural elements that look like they have stood against the weather for a century.

To finish off the exterior, I turned my attention to the front display window. A shop like this needs a window that immediately captures the imagination. I decorated the display with a cascade of tiny, intricate clock gears. Placing each individual cog and wheel took a steady hand. Layering those metallic textures against the weathered storefront created the perfect contrast. It hints beautifully at the mechanical magic waiting inside.

I have to say, I totally love how it turned out. Seeing the completed facade come together under the studio lights was a proud moment. It has given me even more momentum to dive into the interior details.

The Timekeeper’s Shop: Working on the Exterior

 Hello everyone,

How are you all? I hope you are doing well and that you had a great weekend. Today I wanted to share a little update on the progress of my latest project, The Timekeeper’s Shop, which I am currently building live during the TV show on Net TV, Hello min hemm?

During the show, I have the pleasure of working alongside the presenter Malcolm Pisani, who is such a kind and wonderful person. 

Even though we had never met before, we instantly clicked, and it has made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

This time, I focused mostly on the exterior of the shop. I worked on bricking the lower section beneath the display window and shaping the small roof above it, which really started to give the façade its character.

I also paved the pavement using cardboard slabs that I carefully made and painted myself. It is amazing how these small details can completely transform the look of the piece.

I have to say, I am really happy with how everything is coming together. I especially love the colour scheme I chose for the shop, as it gives it a warm and inviting feel.

Working on this project during the show means that the process is a little slower than usual, as I am also explaining each step to the audience and showing how everything is achieved. But at the same time, it makes the journey even more special, as I get to share the creative process in real time.

The Timekeeper's Shop continues on Hello Min Hemm?

Hello everyone, 

How are you? I hope you are all well. I have been quite busy preparing new miniatures and kits for my upcoming fair and new project, however I have also been busy with working on the new shop for Regent Street.

Last week marked the second part of The Timekeeper’s Shop during the live TV show Hello! Min hemm? on Net TV, and I was very excited to continue where we left off.

In the previous episode, the room structure had already been completed with the flooring, wallpaper, and wall borders in place. 

This time, we moved on to the ceiling, where I introduced a finished hand-painted ceiling rose and added the ceiling light, bringing the space to life even further.

I also began placing some of the furniture pieces that were originally part of the shadow box, allowing the new shop to slowly take shape and feel more complete.

During the first episode, Marvick had given me a lovely challenge to include a Maltese element within the project. A challenge I happily accepted. For this, I created a small cabinet featuring an inlay of the Maltese cross. Marvick absolutely loved it, and this piece will eventually be decorated with miniature clocks.

We then moved on to the shop front, where I started painting the structure. 

The lower bay window will later be finished with brickwork, while the roof above it will be tiled. The main front window has already been painted in green, giving a beautiful traditional shopfront look.

There is still so much to do, but the project is slowly coming together, and I am truly enjoying every step of the process.
