Hello Everyone,
Hope you are all well and doing fine. I have been working further on my ongoing project 'Le Chateau' and have so much to show you. But today I am going to share with you a side project that I will be working on in the next few weeks.
In January, a very dear friend, gave me as a gift; this sweet vintage Gee Bee DH8 Tudor Cottage which I will name it, 'The Mouse House'.
The Gee Bee DH8 Tudor Cottage appeared in their catalog back in 1964 and there has been quite a few versions of this tiny cottages. From what I could find, my Tudor Cottage was one of the earliest versions.
This little dwelling has quite a history and from what I could understand, it had already two masters before my friend had it. Unfortunately somewhere along the way the poor little thing wasn't left in it's original state and was painted over.
The little house was wall papered with scrap book paper. It has a missing door and the missing metal stair case which I will be replacing some way on another.
The house itself should have been a 1:16 scale but being so small I think I can also add a 1:24 scale furniture and accessories.
The Residents of The Mouse House have already arrived. The two mice will be quite busy fixing up their new home.
I have to say I do have a soft spot for this little cottage, not only because it was gift from a very dear friend, but because of the fact that the cottage and I had quite an adventure, the second that it was handed down to me. Last January I had the opportunity to travel to The Netherlands once again and while being there, my dear friend gave me the little cottage to take with me back home. It was quite challenging and I wasn't sure if I would succeed. I wanted the little cottage to travel with me as hand luggage being so fragile. It passed check-in, It passed security-check and also passed the boarding check. The little cottage sat on the empty seat next to me without any problem and arrived in Malta safe and sound in one piece.
I am so looking forward to work on this side project. So make sure to keep tuned for the next updates.
Take Care and See You Soon.
Hugs,
Rebecca xxx
Adoerable! The wallpaper choices are interesting. Old wallpaper does have a charm of its own. Looks like a fun project to restore.
ReplyDeleteThe cottage also helps me with the room decorated using a magazine picture. One of the elements is a sort of cage structure and another is the type of windows in the cottage.
