Introducing New Miniatures for Schiedam Dollshouse Fair

 Hello Everyone,

How are you all? I hope you are doing well. 

The studio has been an absolute whirlwind of activity this week, and the packing boxes are finally starting to pile up! As many of you know, I am heading to the Netherlands this week, and I am incredibly excited to announce that I will be exhibiting at the Schiedam Dollshouse Fair this Saturday, the 27th of June 2026.

This is actually my very first time exhibiting at this specific fair! I am absolutely thrilled to be bringing My Miniature World to Schiedam and to finally meet so many of you in person at the Margriethal. I wanted to make this debut truly special, so I have been pouring my heart into creating an entirely new collection of pieces to bring with me.

When designing and decorating a period dolls house, it is those tiny, exquisite details, a delicate vase on a mantelpiece or a finely decorated ornament on a side table, that truly bring a space to life.

To give your miniature rooms that perfect, historically authentic finishing touch, I am introducing a brand new, exclusive line of hand painted miniature vases and ornaments.

These pieces are the result of countless hours of meticulous brushwork under the magnifying glass. I drew heavy inspiration from historical pieces to ensure every piece feels perfectly suited for your miniature parlours and dining rooms. The collection includes  classic floral vases with tiny floral motifs that look incredibly elegant sitting on a side table or mantel piece. Ornate urns, rich historically inspired patterns with gold detailing, perfect for grander, upper class miniature homes.

Now, I know it is the middle of summer, but in the miniature world, it is never too early to start preparing for the festive season!

Alongside the new hand painted miniatures, I am bringing a surprise to the fair: a selection of gorgeous new Christmas items. Whether you are planning a grand Victorian Christmas scene or just want to add a festive touch to your dollhouse, these pieces will bring all the magic of the holidays to your tiny homes.

The absolute centerpiece of this festive launch is my brand new, original design Christmas Ormolu Clock.

This clock is making its official world debut on the day of the fair. It features incredibly intricate detailing, capturing the luxurious, gilded look of traditional ormolu metalwork, perfectly scaled down and infused with elegant Christmas charm. It is the perfect statement piece for a festive miniature mantelpiece, and I cannot wait for you all to see it in person.

The International Dolls House & Miniatures Fair in Houten Jan 2026

 Hello everyone, 

How are you? I hope you are all well. I still can’t quite believe that a whole week has already passed since the International Dolls House & Miniatures Fair in Houten, Utrecht. After months of preparation, planning, creating, and dreaming, the fair came and went in what felt like the blink of an eye and I can honestly say it was worth every single moment. It has been one of the best fairs I have ever taken part in, and I loved every bit of it.

I arrived in The Netherlands on Friday, welcomed by lovely weather; bright and crisp, though a little colder than I’m used to. My first stop was in Gouda, where I visited The Cabinet dolls’ house shop. It had been quite some time since my last visit, so it felt especially nice to walk through the door again, see familiar faces, and enjoy that special miniature atmosphere that always feels like coming home.

Saturday was dedicated to setting up at Expo Houten. The venue is enormous, and with the Teddy and Doll Fair taking place alongside the dolls’ house fair, everything felt even more exciting and full of life. As always, the stand slowly came together piece by piece, and seeing months of work finally taking shape was incredibly rewarding.

During the fair, I introduced several new collections that I had been working on so carefully over the past months. It was a joy to finally share them in person and to see visitors stopping, looking closely, and drawing inspiration for their own miniature rooms. Displays have a wonderful way of speaking for themselves, and I loved watching people notice the details, ask questions, and imagine how these pieces could fit into their own miniature worlds.

One of the things I treasure most about fairs like Houten is meeting fellow artists and catching up with old friends. There is something very special about these moments; sharing stories, laughing, talking about miniatures, and simply enjoying being together again. It always feels like a little reunion, and those conversations are just as precious to me as the fair itself.

Although time passed far too quickly and I didn’t get the chance to buy many miniatures this time, I did come home with a few very special pieces. I was delighted to add a beautiful armchair by Mr. Han J. Goergen to my collection. This one joins the armchair I purchased in Arnhem last October, and both are now destined for the Mouse House, where they fit perfectly together.

I also completely fell in love with a stunning 35 cm teddy bear made by the incredibly talented Ellen van Bakel of Ellence Bears. I spotted her while setting up my stand, and I couldn’t stop thinking about her. The next day, I knew I had to go back before anyone else did. She came home with me and has been named Wilhelmina, or Mina for short.

And of course, there was one more little companion who simply had to join us. A sweet puppy made by Basic Bears. He is now Posy’s pup, and his name is Pip. He fits right in and has already found his place.

Looking back, the fair was everything I hoped for and more; busy, inspiring, emotional, and full of wonderful moments. I am so grateful to everyone who visited my stand, supported my work, shared kind words, and made this event so memorable.

Now it’s time to unpack, reflect, and slowly begin the next chapter, with new ideas already forming. Thank you all for being part of this journey with me.

A Miniature Escape: My Weekend at Europe’s Largest Dolls House Fair

 Hello everyone!

How are you all? I hope you had an amazing weekend. I have to say, mine was absolutely mind-blowing—especially after just getting back from Germany. I'm so thrilled to share that I attended the largest Dolls House and Miniature Fair in Europe for the very first time!

I visited the 1 zu 12 Die Messe 25 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany, and it was simply incredible. There are so many reasons why I love traveling and attending dollhouse and miniature shows, and this event reminded me of every single one of them.

It’s always wonderful to reconnect with artists and old friends—especially those you rarely get to see. Coming from the little (and often forgotten) island of Malta, where dollhouses are still considered a bit of a taboo, I often feel isolated in my miniature-loving world. That’s why visiting these shows uplifts me so much. They remind me that there’s a whole world out there that sees what I see, especially when it comes to miniatures.

When I attend a show, I’m no longer the “weirdo” who loves playing with dollhouses—I’m part of a vibrant, creative community. I meet people who think like me, who share my passion, and with whom I can discuss and exchange ideas freely. It’s incredibly encouraging, and one of the best feelings is when someone recognizes me, we strike up a conversation, and I walk away with a new friend.

My favourite part is always finding the friends I’ve made through the years—and I’m happy to say, that number keeps growing. Two days never feel like enough, but I always leave with a full heart and something to look forward to: the next show.

Of course, the biggest disadvantage of the show—apart from how quickly it flies by—is the temptation to spend! Unless you’re very disciplined, you might as well throw in the towel and wave goodbye to your bank account. 😄

That said, I was more mindful this time—especially since I’m hoping to attend two more shows abroad before the end of the year. I also try to remind myself that I love creating pieces myself whenever I can.

Still, I couldn’t resist picking up a few treasures!

Here’s what came home with me:

• A handmade vintage pram by the Dutch duo Han Goergen and Jeanet Dekker. Han crafts the pieces, while Jeanet adds her charming shabby chic style.

I’ve known them for years, and it’s become a tradition to collect one of their creations.

• Some beautiful laser-cut kits from Melissa’s Mini World. Melissa Verhoeven is an absolute delight—always smiling and full of positive energy.

• Printed miniature fabrics by Italian IGMA artist Susanna Alberti of Fashion in Miniature. Her warm personality is as lovely as her delicate fabrics.

• Supplies for chandelier-making from Bindels Ornaments by Marijke Bindels. I have a big project in mind and can’t wait to see how they turn out—fingers crossed I do them justice!

• A tiny, intricate pop-up book by Japanese artist Yuriko Kitano of Miniature Pop-Up Book—a true gem that becomes a miniature paper house.

• And finally, some hand-painted miniature pottery by Danish artist Lisbeth Pedersen of Minipot. Her work is always stunning and incredibly detailed.

And now for the biggest surprise of all…

I’ve been invited to exhibit at the fair next year in 2026!

At first, I felt completely overwhelmed by the idea. The pressure! The expectations! I almost said no. But in the end… they won me over. So yes, it’s happening! I’ll be exhibiting for the very first time, and I’m both nervous and excited. It’s going to be a completely new experience, and I can’t wait to share that journey with you as it unfolds.

I’m sure all these beautiful pieces will eventually find their perfect spots in my miniature scenes. But for now, I’m off to get back to my workspace and dive into some mini-making!

Book Launch at the Kensington Dollshouse Festival - Christmas Show.

 Hello Everyone,

I can't believe that it has almost been a week since the Book launch of my book 'Designing and Decorating a Period Dolls' House' at the Kensington Dolls House Festival Christmas Show in London.

Friday was an important day. I stated off by visiting Windsor Castle to see Queen Mary's Dolls House decorated for the very first time for Christmas. I was an experience that I couldn't miss. The castle itself was magical decorated with beautiful Christmas trees and ornaments. Queen Mary's Dollshouse had this special Christmas tree and garlands in the hallway.

Gilbert and I spent our evening at Kensington Town Hall to prepare for the following day. Apart from the book launch, miniatures were also available. 

The room box is a replica of the parlour in No 44, Mornington House which a photo of it made it also on the cover of the book. It  was displayed during the show. Considering that it was the Christmas Show, it was decorated for the festive season. 

The stand was all done with books and miniatures. 

As the London Dollshouse Festivals are celebrating their Ruby Anniversary the exhibitors had to decorate their stands and dress up in red. 

 It was a fantastic show. I got to meet so many people and made new friends. By the end of the show all the books have sold out which was pretty amazing. 

Special or not the room box was a big hit were hundreds of people enjoyed and admired it's charm and warmth in such a compact space.

 

I managed to get a few miniatures from the show which I totally love.

For the 40th Anniversary the London Dollshouse Festivals made a special souvenir to mark the occasion. A mug with the logo. It definitely will be something to hold on to. Having my very first exhibition and book launch during the ruby anniversary of the Kensington DollsHouse Festival.

And finally before the show even started I found this beautiful Dolls House Emporium Kit  called Jenny Wren's waiting for me near my stand which traveled all the way with me back to Malta. 

From here I want to thank Charlotte and the team for a well organized event. It was brilliant. Hopefully will be back in Kensington for May's Summer Show.
