The Miniaturist's Bedroom - Part 2 on Life & Style

Hello everyone,

Here I am once again with a new update on The Miniaturist project. Hope you are all doing well and had a great weekend. Finally mother nature has blessed us with some sunshine.

Over a week ago,  I got to share the progress of the inside of the roof on the 'Life & Style' TV Show on Net TV.

As a few of you already know that the roof of the building will be turned into The Miniaturist's Bedroom which will be part of the other room boxes The Dickens Book Shop and The Miniaturist.

I started by decorating the bedroom with the wall paper that I printed and chose a pink marbled tiled flooring.

I liked the combination of the wallpaper and the flooring together especially when I pictured the room with wood paneling. The paneling gave the room more warmth. I also added a false door on the back wall. Just like the Miniaturist room box, the door gives the room more depth and the illusion that behind the door there is this imaginary staircase or other rooms.

Once the paneling and door were stained, I wanted to add a corner fireplace to the room. I had a very cheap fireplace which I never bothered to use, but adding more to it and building a wooden surround around it, made a huge difference. Finally I found a place for it in this project. An additional wall was needed for the fireplace to be placed in the corner.

After the fire place was set in place, I worked on the ceiling and the lighting and by doing so, the room was all set for its furniture and accessories.

I started working on the first furniture piece which was the wardrobe. I wanted it to be as unique as possible, rich in color and that stands out. This is what I have managed to achieve.

For the show I wanted to add something more and I added a few hanging dresses within the wardrobe I thought it would give that little extra detail to the wardrobe itself. I got myself busy and made three simple dresses on hangers.

The last piece of furniture that I worked on was the desk which opens up as a dressing table with a matching chair. I totally loved how this turned out.

Finally it was time to share all this on the 'Life & Style' TV Show with Charles Saliba and Marbeck Spiteri.

Here is the Video Clips during the show.

I am really happy how the room has turned out. These are a few more pictures of the bedroom.

I hope you like the room so far. I can't wait to have it all done with the remaining pieces and accessories. Keep tuned for the next update on the progress of the Miniaturist's Bedroom.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,

Working on a 1:48 scale project!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. It has been a tough month. Have been busy with the real life and even more with my miniature world.

Once in a while, I enjoy to do something different, just to change the routine a little.

It's been quite a few months that I wanted to do a side project which consists of a 1:48 scale dolls house.

I have started working on these 1:48 scale furniture kits from my friend from The Netherlands Melissa. Melissa has some nice dolls house furniture laser cut kits in 1:12scale, 1:24 scale and 1:48 scale. You can find her amazing kits from here Melissas Miniwereld

I started with these three kits. Two Art Nouveau Lazy Chairs and an Art Deco Coffee Shop.

The kits are great. They have full instructions and quite easy to do.

Enjoyed assembling the furniture pieces and they do look amazing especially for such small pieces.

Will be sharing more of these kits soon. Can't wait to share with you the house too.

Keep tuned for the next update.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Hugs,

Binx finds a New Home!

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well and that you had a great weekend.

Just wanted to share with you a new addition that just arrived at My Miniature World and found his new home at the Tudor Manor.

Can you spot something different in the room?

There is a new cat in a wicker basket. Everyone meet Binx.

Binx found a new home in the Tudor Manor. The miniature cat and it's basket are not new but quite vintage.  The little rascal goes way back from the 1950's. Mrs. Nobel adores him and I think it will fit quite nicely there.

Binx is a short version for Binksy who happens to be my own cat. I have always been a cat lover. I have had Binksy for fourteen years and this month he is also celebrating his Birthday.

My Binksy

I had found Binksy when he was just a few weeks old, covered in oil in my car engine.  I  took him home, gave him a bath,  fed the tiny thing and wrapped him up in a blanket. At that time I still lived under my parents roof but Binksy and were inseparable and till this day we are still partners.

Binksy and I in our younger days.

I am sure Binx will enjoy his new home.

This is all for today. Keep tuned for the next update.

Take Care and see you soon.

Starting the New Project 'The Making of the Roof' - Part 1 on 'Life & Style'

Hello Everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are having a good week.

Today I will be sharing with you the beginning of the New Project or the continuation for 'The Miniaturist'. This project consists of another roombox which will go on top of The Miniaturist living quarters.

This room will be turned into The Miniaturist's Bedroom. The beginning of the project was also shared on the 'Life & Style' Tv Show on Net Tv.

This roombox will complete the whole dolls house which will consist of four rooms. The first room was the Dickens book shop. Right on top of it was The Miniaturist room and kitchen and the final room will be turned into the bedroom. As you can see the project is already found its place in my Regent Street.

At this roombox is what I consider the roof's room.  I had to work slightly different from the rest of the other rooms. I designed the walls to be slanting like a roof with two dormer windows. Once the wood was cut, I started painting the inner walls with the first coat of paint.

After constructing the walls into a room, I started working on the outside of the roombox. I used long bamboo skewers to cover the outside of the walls and roof.

Using kite paper I covered the walls with glue paste and painted the entire thing in grey.

The roof and walls were weathered using different shades of earth and natural colors.

I also added two chimneys on top of the roof which I painted and weathered.

Last Friday I got to share the new roombox with Marbeck Spiteri during the show and explained what the project will involve and how the roof was done.

Here is the two video clips showing the introduction of the new project.

Here is how the roof looks like so far.

I can't wait to start working on the inside of the bedroom. Keep tuned for the next update on this project.
