Finishing the outside of 'Le Château'

Hello everyone,

Here I am once again. Hope you are all well. I am very happy to tell you that I have completed the outside of my new project 'Le Château'.

After finishing the roof, it was time to move on to the facade of the building.  I wanted to make a few changes for the facade.

The first thing that I wanted to change was the three plastic balconies that came with the kit. I didn't like the idea of having plastic on the outside. So I had them costumed made with a laser cutter.

Another alteration that I wanted to change, was the front door. I didn't like muntins of the door, as it didn't match the other doors. So I went for a different design and made the main door stand out a bit more.

I was happy how the new balconies and the door fitted nicely in place.

I was still not happy with the side doors next to the main door as they looked to bare to me. Technically the kit had an optional basement to add on. I personally didn't like it very much but if I did add the basement the two side doors would have had a balcony like the ones on the first floor.

I did some online research of original French style houses to inspire me and I came up with the idea of adding my own balconies with the same design of the other ones above them, only less deeper as they are on street level.

Finally I got to weather slightly the whole building. I didn't want to over due it with the weathering but made it look realistic and appealing to the eye.

Here are a few photos of the finished building.

I hope you like how it turned out. Now I am looking forward to start working on the inside of the house. Quite excited about it too!

Make sure to keep tuned for the next update of 'Le Château'.

Take Care and See You Soon.

  1. This looks great.I love the balconies and the grill work on the front door.

  2. Hi Rebecca, This is Dwayne Denton I was wondering can you tell me where I could buy the railing and the bases you used of your main floor? I'm building a plantation house and want those for my windows which are 9" tall trying to give it a really heavy Southern french quarter affect. Problem is I don't know where to get the railings and bases that they sit on. HELP!

  3. Wow! It's fantastic. The main door now is perfect and also the balconies.

  4. beautiful changes. Great project and photos.

  5. It looks really lovely Rebecca and I love your solution for the ground level balconies! I am excited to see how you'll finish the interiors and what color palette you'll choose!

  6. Fantastic Work Rebecca! You have made such an improvement on the balconies and the door. You never disappoint. Well done girl! Keep up the good work. Will be following very eagerly.
