Hello everyone,
How are you all? I hope you are doing well. I have been quite busy lately preparing for my upcoming dolls house show in Schiedam in The Netherlands, while also working on my new project, The Timekeeper’s Shop. Today, I wanted to take a little moment to share something very special from my recent trip to the UK.
Last week, while I was in England, I had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful Teddy Bears of Witney shop, located in Witney, Oxford. As many of you know, I have a very soft spot for teddy bears, especially since Posy came into my life. She now has her own delightful dolls house filled with her growing family and friends.
Visiting Teddy Bears of Witney was truly a magical experience. The shop is known as one of the best teddy bear shops in the UK, and I can honestly say that I completely agree. The moment you step inside, you are surrounded by charm and warmth. Wherever you look, there are the most beautiful teddy bears you could ever imagine.
I was welcomed by the lovely owner with the sweetest smile and such kindness. She offered me a tea and a delicious selection of biscuits, which made the whole visit feel even more special and personal. Then, the tour began.
Each teddy bear on display had something unique about it. From exclusive Steiff bears made especially for the shop, to limited edition pieces and creations by talented artists from all over the world, there was truly something for everyone. Tiny bears, large bears, traditional styles and more contemporary designs, it was an incredible collection.
We had such a lovely conversation where I shared my work, my dollshouses, and how I sometimes incorporate teddy bears into my miniature scenes. It was wonderful to connect through our shared love of craftsmanship and storytelling. I was also honoured to be asked to sign the shop’s registry, such a special moment that I will always treasure.
Of course, I knew I would not be leaving without a teddy of my own. With so many beautiful bears to choose from, it was not easy, but there was one that truly captured my heart. Her name is Hellene, a limited edition teddy by Hermann Teddy Originals, made in Germany. She is number 17 out of 300, and I absolutely fell in love with her.
Before visiting this magical shop, I also spent some time in the Cotswolds, in the charming village of Bourton on the Water. It was there that I found my very first Steiff bear, Elmar, along with a lovely miniature bone china wash basin and pitcher by Crown Staffs England, discovered in a beautiful antique shop.
Posy has certainly been very busy lately, welcoming several new teddies into our home, and she is enjoying every moment of it. But that is definitely a story for another post.
So this is all for today. I hope you enjoyed this little journey with me. Make sure to stay tuned for the next update and the latest news.
Take care and see you soon.
Hugs,
Rebecca xxx
